Lido & Alison Wonderland exchange remix duties for remixes of Crazy and Messiah

When it comes down to electronic music, there’s no pairing quite as good as Alison Wonderland and Lido. They first collaborated for Cold early on in Alison’s production career, before re-uniting for Alison’s Brave-featuring Already Gone – a stand-out single on Alison’s debut record Run. Now, their fruitful professional partnership continues, with Alison Wonderland and Lido remixing each other’s singles ahead of Lido’s returning trip down under this weekend (with Porter Robinson and Madeon – tour poster at the bottom).

First up comes Alison Wonderland’s remix of Lido’s Crazy, the leading single from his Everything record last year. Alison’s Crazy remix continues the triumphant, future-bass-esque sound that she brought to light on her remix of Duke Dumont’s Ocean Drive, uniting distorted vocals with conquering walls of synth and heavy bass for a festival-ready production that’s loaded with Alison’s banging production touch. Meanwhile, Lido goes a little more low-key for his remix keeping the production very similar than the original in favour of re-working the vocals instead – a move that is quite rare amongst the electronic world. His reworded lyrics bring a little more sombreness to the track’s otherwise quite up-beat feel, with a newfound, post-album confidence allowing Lido to reach those high notes with a powering falsetto. Vocals aside, Lido only touches up the production a little, cleaning some of the original’s melodies and keeping them more subdued in favour of a more enhanced percussion line, expected from a producer with a strong back-ground in drums.
