Emerging from Adelaide in 2012, Bad//Dreems give classic the Australian pub rock sound a psychedelic twist and dystopian vision. Their latest album, HOO HA! delves into the absurdity of a post-truth world through the filter of suburban ennui. Guitarist/vocalist Ben Marwe walks us through some of his Australian picks on Australian Music Is Bloody Great.

This band came into our orbit over the past few years. We met [C.O.F.F.F.I.N] at Ninchfest, down on the coast in Victoria. We have a played with them numerous times now. They have toured the world with Amyl And The Sniffers. They are an incredible live band with lots of energy and power; loud guitars and immediacy. They also have a drummer who sings, which is always a bonus. Love this song and look forward to seeing what they do next.

I'm happy to say that I have seen this band go from their first single to where they are now. Miles, our drummer, was on them very early. He sent me their first track, Nullarbor, years and years ago and we, as a group of musicians and creatives, were blown away by them. It has been amazing to see their trajectory. They keep on rising like a good cake in an oven. Their latest album is incredible and they are great people. This song is a real earworm, I find myself singing the chorus all the time around the house, annoyingly so.

Martin is a prolific figure in Australian music. I don't really know him personally, I have just tracked his music since his time with Twerps in the 2010s era. He has had a big influence on us as songwriters and has accomplished quite a bit in music here and around the world. This song is an immediate Australian classic. [It has} some help from the talent that produced our latest release, Dan Luscombe, who plays on this track and it is a bit of a lineup of heavy hitters. Enjoy.

Ripple Effect Band are an all-female reggae/rock group from Maningrida in Australia's top end. It is a remote community from Arnhem Land, which we were very fortunate to have visited last year on our trip through the region whilst playing to the community with our friends the Black Rock Band. This song refers to a beautiful seaside cliff area which we were also able to see. I can confirm that it is certainly beautiful, this song is also beautiful and I think you will like it.
