There are enough breakdowns, electronic stabs, furious drums and well-written lyrics scattered throughout Savage Seas to make this savage enough to feed anyone’s appetite.

The album takes a few listens to grasp the music’s nuances, drama and depth. But an album that demands to be played more than once is a rarity and is worth an exchange of dollars.

Although not as punchy, or poppy, as previous efforts You’re A Shadow is an extremely accomplished piece of indie magic from the Queenslanders.
There’s nothing innately wrong with Heartthrob yet the songs are missing the zing; the spark that demands you hit play repeatedly.
“My dad arrived in England in the late ‘50s with a bag of records and I remember mum and dad dancing round the room to Marvin Gaye and Nat King Cole. I’ve grown up with that kind of music.”
