Live Review: WAMCon QuayNote Boat Party

The first day of workshops and industry networking at State Theatre Centre of WA left many WAMCon attendees inspired and many still looking forward to the annual boat party.

The guests were greeted aboard Captain Cook Cruises with a red carpet and the promise of an entertaining evening featuring up-and-coming Perth band, Boat Show.

Boat Show are fresh on the scene but have been quick to make waves. The riot garage rock band comprises of Ali Flintoff (vocals), Jenny Aslett (guitar), Indigo Foster-Tuke (bass), George Foster (drums) and the brilliant Stella Donnelly (guitar), who won five WAMAwards out of the six she was nominated for this year.

They played songs from their debut album, Groundbreaking Masterpiece, including Cis White Boy, Serious and Stay Alive. Their repertoire delivered a commentary on social issues, such as male privilege, violence against women and oppression of females in a patriarchal society. The band was energetic, engaged with their audience and performed incredibly well, considering the less than desirable setting.

The sold-out moshtix QuayNote Boat Party was an overall pleasant affair. The guests were provided with a spread of delicious finger food and a consistent supply of free beverages. It was a chance for established artists, industry powerhouses and newcomers alike to network, relax and admire the Perth skyline.
