Album Review: Various - Teen Idols: A Future Classic Compilation

This latest showcase from the Melbourne-based label works as a portfolio of their newest and shiniest output.

Sounding less homogenous than some previous compilations, Teen Idols… is a varied collection that flits between the hyper-energy of happy trap songs by Wave Racer and Basenji, and quieter moments that balance the album well. Norwegian producer Lido’s remix of Flight Facilities’ Two Bodies is a great example of the latter. There are likely hits of tomorrow, like Hayden James’ Something About You, and a few that feel lacklustre once you look past the production sheen.
