"Nunn rode out into the crowd on the shoulders of a security guard... before launching into 1986 hit 'Take My Breath Away'."

Nostalgia hungry Hobart welcomes Totally '80s. Wrest Point Entertainment Centre is the perfect scene for Totally 80s, a tour starring seven international '80s superstars, hosting entertainers brought back from retirement for nostalgia-hungry Tasmanian crowds.

An almost sold out show, Totally 80s hit this nerve, drawing an audience of easy to please punters, who were jiving in their seats before the lights were dim.

Ivan Doroschuk of Men Without Hats fame opened the show, encouraging the audience with The Safety Dance to move from their seats and dance. The combination of bouncy '80s music and Doroschuk's sequinned outfit made for a favourable opening. Following Doroschuk's performance, David Sterry of Real Life wooed the audience with Catch Me I'm Falling and synthesiser-heavy track Send Me An Angel.

Paul Gray of Wa Wa Nee drew cheers with the introduction of a keytar, teasing the audience with a butt shake while performing hits Sugar Free, Stimulation and I Could Make You Love Me.

Stacey Q bounced onto stage with a youthful energy that was contagious. Swain performed a pop-filled set with sugary tune We Connect and equally boppy Two Of Hearts.

There is always a curiosity with shows such as Totally 80s, about the performer and their ability to perform some 30 years after their peak. Katrina Leskanich of Katrina & The Waves added a new level of musicianship, leading the audience in song to Walking On Sunshine. Leskanich performed with confidence and allowed time in her set for some much-needed solo drum and guitar performances.

Limahl engaged the eager audience with banter between performances of Never Ending Story and Too Shy.

Paul Lekakis implored "Boom, boom, boom, let's go back to my room" as he unzipped a fluoro vest to hit Boom Boom.

Terri Nunn of Berlin played a much longer set with hits Dancing In Berlin, No More Words and the provocative Sex (I'm A…). Nunn rode out into the crowd on the shoulders of a security guard, stating she loved her job before launching into 1986 hit Take My Breath Away.

Martika was the final performer for the night and held the audiences attention with a high energy rendition of I Feel The Earth Move and heartfelt performance of Love… Thy Will Be Done.

The show finished with a singalong to chart-topping Toy Soldiers, a fitting end to a night of '80s hits.
