"[C]atchy, strong, punk anthems."
With a killer stage presence and unique punk sound, These New South Whales trample over any other artist playing punk music. Continuing to channel '70s Ramones, I Just Do What God Tells Me To Do is a brilliant follow-up to You Work For Us.
It’s Its Own Heart begins with a repetitive kick, with fast chords, extended guitar wails and barking dogs. In The Light Of Day tones things down, seeing the band more relaxed. Rather than focusing on familiar and heavily distorted notes, the track shows that the Whales can take their sound to different areas without compromising their artistic integrity.
You’re going to have to listen to The Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease yourself... It’s literally 30 seconds of a wheel being greased and a peculiar addition to the album. As soon as Nerve 2 Reverse and Reservation kick into gear, it’s back to what we expected from the record – catchy, strong, punk anthems. Overall, I Just Do What God Tells Me To Do shows a brilliant progression from a band who are branching out.
