"The veteran band seriously delivers on Chrome."
It'd be easy to dismiss The Screaming Jets as just old '90s rockers looking for a stab at past glories.
But the veteran band seriously delivers on Chrome, serving up a genuinely good album with genuinely good and even great songs. Frontman Dave Gleeson still packs some hefty punch with his vocals, while Jimi Hocking rips through the guitar solos, the pair adding extra sheen to a series of catchy, well constructed tracks. Highlights abound, like rock-out opener Automatic Cowboy and Police-influenced Turn It Around, but the biggest surprise is album highlight Razor, a neat little rocker combining Middle Eastern and southern gothic flourishes. With tracks like this, it's good to have the Jets back.
