"Interacting well with the crowd, the band participated in some playful banter, shaping a friendly relationship that contributed to a positive atmosphere."
The Jungle Giants are a band well acquainted with Adelaide, having performed here numerous times and built up quite a loyal fan base, so a sold-out all ages show at the Adelaide Uni Bar on Saturday night was guaranteed.
Up first were Melbourne boy band Foreign/National and Brisbane five-piece psych-rock band, Moses Gunn Collective. The two support bands juxtaposed each other’s music styles greatly and helped keep the audience entertained. Moses Gunn Collective’s set could be described as very glam, glittery and the stage was blinding courtesy copious amounts of sparkles. It was very refreshing for a support act to provide such a memorable element!
The impatient crowd erupted into a roar of applause when The Jungle Giants jumped on stage. Having witnessed this band many times before, this reviewer entered expecting nothing less than an energetic and fun performance. They certainly delivered, as we all left red-faced, sweaty and content – the only proper way to leave a gig!
As anticipated they pumped out crowd favourites She’s A Riot, A Pair Of Lovers, Mr Polite and You’ve Got Something. Dancing and singing along familiarly, the crowd formed a light-hearted mosh that lasted the entirety of the set.
When the band played a string of newer tracks including debut single, Every Kind Of Way, the audience was split in terms of comprehension. Half the crowd seemed to know every line, while the other half gawked in dumb-founded musical bliss.
Interacting well with the crowd, the band participated in some playful banter, shaping a friendly relationship that contributed to a positive atmosphere. The energy was warm, lively and energetic; it was a great show and the perfect place to spend a windy and cold Saturday night.
