"...Everyone was certainly just as happy to have them back."
Skegss were the talk of the town among the streets of Hobart and they certainly didn't disappoint when they hit up Waratah Hotel. Despite clashing with Dune Rats - who played Hobart on the same night but a different venue - set times were shuffled around to make it work for everyone.
Pist Idiots kicked things off first, playing to a small but very energetic crowd. The stage was barricaded in preparation for what was going to be a big night and it was probably a good thing. Good Boy were next and they provided some funky tunes to maintain the mood and get everyone more amped for Skegss (if that was even possible). All bands were stoked to be in Hobart and because of the set time shuffle around, the Dune Rats boys themselves were able to make the Skegss gig. With a nice and early starting time of 9.45pm, Skegss took to the stage and the masses piled in.
Having not been to Tasmania since Party In The Paddock in early February, the boys were excited to be back and playing to such an excited crowd. "We're stoked to be in Tassie, we haven't been here since we played this festival a while back" - everyone was certainly just as happy to have them back.
The stage barriers definitely paid off, with the mosh getting pretty rough towards the front. Bodies were being bounced around here, there and everywhere as the crowd screamed out the lyrics to favourites such as LSD, You Probably Won't Die For A While, New York California and, of course, finishing with everyone's favourite, Spring Has Sprung. With the gig finishing nice and early and everyone appropriately amped, many headed off to catch Dune Rats and continue the party. For those who didn't, it was still a ball of fun for everyone involved.
