Album Review: Olly Murs - Never Been Better

I didn’t think it was possible to be this bored by pop music. Never Been Better is offensively boring. Not poorly produced or sung, just bland, the culmination of a vanilla pop star behind the mic and overpaid producers at the desk. The Derulo trumpet rip on Did You Miss Me? is mildly catchy, but between the obligatory Travie McCoy rap (Wrapped Up) and inexplicable Demi Lovato cameo (Up) there’s nothing new here. One Direction are releasing folk jams. Nick Jonas has gone full r’n’b babe, Murs needs to lift his game to seem vaguely relevant.
