"'Neel Before Me' sees Kolhatkar progress away from unguided, irresponsible impersonations..."
When Kolhatkar is punching up (Gina Rinehart, straight white men, straight white men and himself listening to Tupac, straight men emasculated by their bisexual girlfriend's hot ex-girlfriend) he is funny. When he is punching down (racist accents, poor people) he is not funny. But Kolhatkar is not very far into what is still a young career, and given where he started (YouTube) he has come far. Neel Before Me sees Kolhatkar progress away from unguided, irresponsible impersonations towards the introspection, uncomfortable truths and self-exposure that make for great comedy.
