Album Review: Needtobreathe - Hard Love

If Christian rock tends to leave a bad taste in your mouth, South Carolina's Needtobreathe won't be cleansing your palette with their sixth album.

Bear Rinehart's overly emotive grunting tires quickly, yet there is a shining light in some wickedly versatile guitar licks courtesy of brother Bo. Great Night and Don't Bring That Trouble are rollicking blues rock a teenage ZZ Top could stand behind, but Be Here Long and Clear are the kind of stale sycophantic flatulence that makes one want to bolt from the church at high speed. Based on this evidence, the devil still has all the best tunes.
