"It's a shame to see them go, as they clearly still love what they do and are damn good at it."
Metro Theatre and pop-punk gigs are inseparable, much like Metro's floor and everyone's shoes; making it a fitting venue for Motion City Soundtrack's final show in Sydney.
With Confidence really got the pop-punk started. The band was confident in their delivery, and fit the bill of whiny pop-punk to a T (appealing to the younger people in the audience). Speaking of, relegated to the small front corner of the top level of Metro Theatre were their biggest fans - the junior section. Singing every word, they didn't let the band down and reminded us of the enthusiasm we had when seeing Motion City Soundtrack around seven years ago.
Alas here we were, a bunch of people in our 20s looking to relive our glory days (and act like the aforementioned juniors for just one night) and farewell a band that was a major part of those formative years. It's a shame to see them go, as they clearly still love what they do and are damn good at it.
Thankfully they played a set of older tunes to see us off (nothing worse than when they don't). It was surprising how many lyrics we remembered (and forgot), screaming back classic tracks Her Words Destroyed My Planet, LG Fuad, My Favorite Accident, A Life Less Ordinary (Need A Little Help); and finishing up their set with timeless track Everything Is Alright (and apt given it was R U OK? Day).

"I'm on fire and now I think I'm ready to bust a move!" We screamed and jumped on cue as we heard the opening line of The Future Freaks Me Out, rounding out an awesome set and encore. We left begrudgingly, knowing we'll never see Motion City Soundtrack, or that chapter of our lives, again.
