"Made of very discrete, quantifiable parts, the EP always feels like everything is in its place."
This Six Song EP is, like its title, simple and elegant.
The duo draw from an almost dauntingly wide range of influences (soul, lounge, synthpop), but funnel it all into something smooth. It’s best described as the 21st century, lo-fi equivalent of Motown soul – with homemade chiptunes instead of horn sections. A compelling mix of the minimalist and the lavish, tracks feature lone piano vamps, meticulously-plotted bass strums, and then the centrepiece: uncoiling, polyphonic, layered vocals. Made of very discrete, quantifiable parts, the EP always feels like everything is in its place.
