While there are a few lulling sections and some references are pretty cheesy, Lawrence Leung's Part-time Detective Agency is a light and clever romp that will no doubt slicken up nicely.
Lawrence Leung has hilarious parents. I feel weird suggesting they're the best part of his show, considering they come purely in AV format, but they pull-out some great material. The seasoned Leung's 2013 MICF routine is a tightly scripted one hour excursion beginning with his lifelong predeliction for amateur detective work. He then takes his audience on a mission to solve a major mystery from his real-life past. He's a sweet guy, and his style is super nice. Perhaps a bit too safe at times. The narrative and gags race along regardless and Leung, on opening night mind you, sometimes battles to keep his lips up with the bouncing ball. The premise is a fun thing and he runs red herrings and a projector without a hitch. While there are a few lulling sections and some references are pretty cheesy, Lawrence Leung's Part-time Detective Agency is a light and clever romp that will no doubt slicken up nicely.
