Album Review: Imagine Dragons - Origins

Las Vegas four-piece, Imagine Dragons are back with their fourth album, Origins, and exploring new ground while still appreciating their roots. The band has shaken things up a little by mixing hip hop, pop, rock and folk together. It seems like they wanted to create with no boundaries and make something different and new to them.

Boomerang is a heartbreaker, its lyrics speak about the pain of love, breaking up and moving on, while Only teleports you back to the '80s with its electro vibes. Dan Reynolds' vocals are mesmerising with every song, especially when the lyrics are so heartful like on Stuck. Digital mixes electronica and hip hop; it's strange but you warm up to it. Zero gets the blood pumping with its energetic beat, a good song for a run.

With every album, Imagine Dragons has written infectious tracks that have left their marks on the music industry. We remember these songs. On this album, Imagine Dragons has stepped out of their bubble and explored a new sound. However, the question is, was this the best thing for the band? The talent is there, the lyrics are perfect but the album is mediocre and doesn’t leave much of a lasting impression.
