"Despite having a constant overarching sound, there's enough variety and range across the album to keep it interesting."
Evolve, the third album from Las Vegas alt-rock band Imagine Dragons, has the same dark, epic sound that has characterised and popularised their music over recent years.
Imagine Dragons seamlessly combine hard hitting beats, electronic elements, rock vocals and guitar to produce emotive, charged tracks like album opener I Don't Know Why and Whatever It Takes. Lead vocalist Dan Reynolds' voice is unique and powerful, complimented well by Wayne Sermon's guitar, Ben McKee's bass and Daniel Platzman's drums.
Despite having a constant overarching sound, there's enough variety and range across the album to keep it interesting - Dancing In The Dark is chilled out alternative electro, I'll Make It Up To You has definite pop influences while Start Over has a bit of a tropical house twist.
Rise Up is a definite album highlight - it's adrenaline fuelled, passionate and has a massive stadium anthem vibe. Thunder is possibly the catchiest track on the album, its repetitive hook is sure to get stuck in heads upon first listen.
