Album Review: Gadget - The Great Destroyer

You'd be hard pressed to find a grind band with a less brutal name as Gadget.

Musically, however, it's the exact opposite. With straight-faced, humourless delivery and the kind of guitar tones that could shake the earth, the Swedish quartet certainly lean further on the death metal side of the deathgrind spectrum. The first album from the band in six years, The Great Destroyer is somehow refreshing in its old school tendencies, picking up the strands of late early '00s grind many bands have abandoned. This isn't a modern record by any stretch, but it's a damn good vintage one.
