"There is no doubt that G Flip is going to skyrocket into stardom."

More G Flip More G Flip

G Flip is not yet a household name in Australian music, however, she is quickly gaining momentum in the industry. Georgia Flipo, the Melbourne-based singer, musician and producer has already ticked some rather impressive boxes in her short career, including a stellar Splendour In The Grass set and a considerable chunk of airtime on stations like triple j. Landing in Brisbane for her first ever headline Queensland show, she sees a sold-out show at The Brightside.

Support act San Mei delivers a fun set to kick the night off, displaying a lot of talent and potential to grow further as an artist. With more stage confidence, San Mei could one day sell out her own shows. This was followed by Holiday Party, delivering a short by sweet set. Suited to the kind of crowd present tonight, Holiday Party provides a fun spurt of energy to ready G Flip fans for the main act.

G Flip comes on stage, looking so comfortable and at home it’s almost as though she was born on it. With only two singles released, crowds would expect to hear a considerable amount of unreleased music, and they would be correct. Drink Too Much and another that we're told is called 'Morning, I’m Not Afraid' are just some of the unreleased tracks played tonight, but it’s the anthemic tune Killing My Time that steals the first half of the show. The crowd almost takes over the vocals and in pure harmony, G Flip and her fans perform it together.

With a humble and bubbly stage presence, Flipo provides an emotive and sentimental show. Heartbreak, loss and happiness are some of the stories G Flip shares with her crowd, connecting wholeheartedly with them. This connection does not deteriorate when Flipo takes to the drum kit at the back of the stage intermittently throughout her set; the crowd is still glued to her and transfixed by her talent. Ending the show with her biggest song, About You, G Flip pulls off a very powerful performance, still from the back of the stage. The crowd is in awe as she finishes the final track and they undoubtedly leave with hearts much fuller than when they arrive.

Having only two songs out and already setting off on an international tour is a curiously different way of operating in the industry. Yet G Flip has somehow made it work. Her show has given a promising insight into her future debut album. The pure talent that Flipo embodies, as a powerhouse vocalist and a phenomenal musician with an electric stage presence is almost overwhelming. There is no doubt that G Flip is going to skyrocket into stardom.
