"The band stick to their sociorealist roots and these songs, brimming with hard living and hard times, are instantly relatable."
It's time to take our hats off to Frightened Rabbit.
Adjusting your sound to become more stadium-friendly is fraught with difficulty. But these Rabbits handle it with ease, despite main man Scott Hutchison living in LA while the others toiled away in their native Glasgow. The sound may be crisper thanks to The National's Aaron Dessner, but the band stick to their sociorealist roots and these songs, brimming with hard living and hard times, are instantly relatable. The careworn lyrics drive some seriously big choruses on I Wish I Was Sober and An Otherwise Disappointing Life but these are just two standouts in an album packed with one belting anthem after another.
