"As the album wears on it sounds as if the wind's been taken out of their sails."
With Brexit weighing heavily on the band's minds there's plenty of elegiac mopey-ness on Everything Everything's fourth album.
There's still some ire on Night Of The Long Knives and Can't Do is another dazzling example of their 22nd century pop-timism, but as the album wears on it sounds as if the wind's been taken out of their sails and a number of songs here are hard to emotionally connect to. One has to wonder if Everything Everything aren't sometimes a bit too clever for the unwashed masses, or even their own breakthrough prospects.
