Album Review: DevilDriver - Trust No One

Having finally savoured the victory lap not fully enjoyed the first time around while fronting reactivated nu-metallers Coal Chamber, growler Dez Fafara has assembled an almost entirely new line-up for his heavier, nastier outfit.

The fresh recruits form a cohesive metal machine tighter than a miser's wallet. "Huge grooves and even larger hooks" has long been DevilDriver's mantra. They certainly deliver the former (Bad Deeds and Daybreak both future circle pit party-starters), although the latter's strike rate isn't quite on par with previous works. For What It's Worth, the vocalist's less than conventional inaugural attempt at a love song proves a standout.
