"[She] whipped the packed Metro Theatre into a frenzy."
Duo Micra were tasked with warming up the crowd with their psychedelic dream-pop. The unlikely duo met at an Unknown Mortal Orchestra concert and their love of music shows in their set. Combining a range of musical influences in their songs, we heard hearty bass lines under atmospheric synths and melodies with pop sensibilities, topped off by the great vocals of lead singer Ivana Kay.
Stand Atlantic injected some pop-punk into our evening, throwing some of us back to our teenage years. With Bonnie Fraser at the helm, her vocals soared over a solid base of pop-punk goodness that kept us headbanging as she bounded around on stage, exuding the perfect amount of energy for the show and hyping up the crowd. Fans ate up their late-2018 single Skinny Dipping. There were smiles all round as they finished up their set.
Considering Alex Lahey doesn’t get invited to parties anymore, she sure knows how to throw one, kicking off with I Don’t Get Invited To Parties Anymore, which immediately whipped the packed Metro Theatre into a frenzy. She followed it up with Am I Doing It Right? to keep us in the mood.
Fresh on the back of the release of her second record The Best Of Luck Club, Lahey and band were keen to show off new cuts, which the crowd welcomed with open arms – already knowing the words to most. We doted on Lahey as she crooned Black RMs, and cathartically shouted back the lyrics of Interior Demeanour with the intensity to match its blistering rendition.

The stage setting gave Lahey ample space to move, literally doing laps as she played breakout single You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me, which was met with the same amount of energy by the crowd. By this point, the backdrop was lit up to read "Alex Lahey" and "It Is Where You Are" which basically screamed rock star – a title she totally deserves after this show.
Lahey saved the best until last to reward her adoring fans, closing the show with Every Day’s The Weekend and I Haven’t Been Taking Care Of Myself, leaving everyone satisfied and beaming as they walked out into the cold winter night.
