While there are some generic traits to the album, you can’t deny its powerful energy.
Californian post-hardcore quintet A Skylit Drive's latest release Rise is a virulent 12 track album that see's the band take massive steps forward from 2011's Identity On Fire. Following the departure of lead guitarist Joey Wilson in 2012 uncertainty surrounded their future, but they have been able to create a solid mixture of post-hardcore and melodic metalcore. Clearly the strength of ASD has always been frontman Michael Jagmin's voice, which seems more controlled than ever. Tracks like Unbreakable and Pendulum are standouts, perfectly mixing the heavier elements with daunting melodies seeping through. While there are some generic traits to the album, you can't deny its powerful energy.
