"A perfect mix of fun and weird.”
Young Franco has today shared his latest music video, unveiling The Reggies (bbno$, Rich Brian) directed visual accompaniment to his latest, fan-adored single Like That alongside Pell & Jafunk.
The Reggies continue their reputation as one of the most aesthetically inviting emerging directors, as Young Franco and Pell playfully perform the song around symbols of youthful innocence. They strut and sit in the middle of a basketball court, surrounded by green scenery. Franco sports a Virginia is for lovers t-shirt, an ode to the track’s influences that span from bounce-driven hip-hop throughout the 2000s. While everything seems perfect, the duo have been given an extravagant prosthetic treatment by Alyssa Hudson, a reference to The Reggies signature style of balancing eccentricity with innocence.
On creating the video the directing duo stated, “The energy and chemistry that Young Franco and Pell have on camera together is electric. It was an absolute blast on set.”
Young Franco reflected the same sentiment stating, "I really enjoyed making this music clip with the Reggies. I've been a big fan of their work since the bbno$ clip, so to get a treatment from them was really exciting. The video turned out brilliant, a perfect mix of fun and weird.”
Sonically, Young Franco and Jafunk combine to create a track that reflects the golden era of club driven rap music, pioneered in Virginia by production greats including Pharrell, The Neptunes and Timbaland. Its bounce-ready percussion runs perfectly with quickly strummed guitars and a slapping bass line. On the top line front, Pell is in no rush to get his slick bars off, gliding over the beat with an elegance and class before riding it out with an infectious hook its final third.
