Will King Leaves Windwaker, Will Be Replaced By Liam Guinane

Beloved Windwaker vocalist, Will King blew up the Aussie heavy music corner of the internet a few days ago when he announced that he was leaving the band to pursue a "profound calling." 

The band has since announced who will be filling Will's role in the band, revealing that Liam Guinane will rejoin the emerging musical force as lead vocalist. 

Windwaker shared the news of Guinane's new role in the Windwaker universe over the weekend via a social media post.

"We are happy to announce that Liam Guinane has rejoined Windwaker as lead vocalist. You might remember his voice from such tracks as ‘Colourless’, ‘The Sitch’, and everyone’s favourite Windy bridge in ‘My Empire’. He’s an old friend, was an integral part of the band in our inception, and a part of our identity. Our tours with Enter Shikari and Northlane are still going ahead as planned, and we are more than excited to welcome Liam back into the band at these shows. Windwaker is in the most creative and healthy space it has ever been in and we are currently working on what we know is our best material to date. Stay tuned for content. Will recently chose to depart Windwaker for reasons he’s outlined in his statement below. We would like to wish him all the best."

Windwaker's post also featured a transcript of Will's original post which revealed his intentions to seek a greater purpose in life.

“To my Windwaker family, there comes a time in ones search when curiosity forms a profound calling, met with the intuitive hunch of moments passed. This feeling is rare and fleeting, only to arise with such truth and conviction just a few times over the course of our lives. Ignore such a calling and a greater sense of purpose begins to slip you."

"For me now, a new journey awaits which requires my complete, undivided attention; a deep continuation of a life in service to others, in the field of psychology. Before I am fully able to grasp what that means, I must first seek to understand self. I am immensely grateful for music. The places I have been. The things I have experienced. The unique opportunities presented to me. The various connections made. The stories and memories so many of us share together. Truly, I appreciate every single one of you, and will always look back on this chapter of my life as laying the foundations for the person I am yet to become. I owe it to all of you, for giving me a chance, lending your ears, time and energy, keeping my flame alive in the eternal chase that is pursuing a meaningful experience."

Windwaker released the acclaimed full-length Love Language in May

The band are touring with Enter Shikari and Creeper this coming November.
