Will Ferrell Has A Co-writer Credit On Dope Lemon’s New Single

Dope Lemon (Angus Stone) returns today with the announcement of his fourth album, Kimosabè, arriving on Friday, 1 September, via BMG. He also dropped the title track this morning, which comes with a slick music video and the revelation that Will Ferrell has a co-writer credit on the song.

The first single, produced by Stone himself, was inspired by the cult classic comedy film, Step Brothers (2008), and samples the movie, which led to Will Ferrell and director Judd Apatow being credited as co-writers.

"This record is everything that's me,” Stone revealed in a statement. “In the past, the artwork has been anonymous in a way because I was trying to explore these styles, and having this shield in front of me was beautiful – I could sort of slink around in the shadows and wouldn't have the public make a judgement on the person behind it.

“This record, I had moments of clarity reflecting on my childhood, and I was able to see where I want to be in the future. So putting myself on the cover just felt right."

Stone’s third album under the Dope Lemon moniker, Rose Pink Cadillac, debuted at #2 on the ARIA Chart in January 2022, blocked from the top spot by The Weeknd’s surprise album, Dawn FM.

While Stone didn’t quite claim #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Rose Pink Cadillac was #1 on the Vinyl Albums and Australian Albums Charts.
