Why Does Four Tet Keep Dropping 'COUNTRY RIDDIM' In His Sets?

Skrillex, Fred Again.. and Four Tet recently hit the Coachella stage (which was actually Frank Ocean's abandoned ice skating rink) for an epic closing performance that was met with praise around the world. 

While the set had featured a slew of mind-blowing moments, it was Four Tet (real name Kieran Hebden) dropping HOL!'s filthy, bass-heavy track COUNTRY RIDDIM several times throughout the b2b set that had fans talking - and of course, it quickly became a meme across social media.

In case you weren't counting, Kieran - ever the agent of chaos when performing with the trio - managed to slip the track in a whopping four times throughout the Coachella headline set, much to the amusement of longtime followers of the EDM legends (and Fred Gibson, whose reaction to Kieran dropping the track mid-set was a moment in itself).

The first COUNTRY RIDDIM drop came as the trio transitioned from Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, prompting the crowd to go absolutely bonkers. The madness didn't stop there, however, with Four Tet later slipping the track between Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Fisher tunes.

But Four Tet's unrelenting obsession with dropping the chaotic track isn't just limited to their Coachella set. 

In fact, it's become somewhat of a running joke between the EDM trio and their fans after Kieran first dropped the track like a ton of bricks into his, Skrillex and Fred Again's pop-up show at New York’s Times Square back in February.

The iconic moment was made even more hilarious by Fred immediately rewinding the track in an effort to put a stop to Kieran's trolling, to no avail (he went on to play the track two more times in the set).

Seemingly acknowledging the fact his COUNTRY RIDDIM drops have gone viral post-Coachella, Kieran touched on his love for the now-famous dubstep track in an Instagram story on Tuesday, saying, "Respect to @hol.mp3 this track has magical powers".

And judging from the crowd's insane reaction to it every single time it dropped during Coachella's final set, we think he may be right.
