More Betty Who More Betty Who

New York-based Australian artist Betty Who continues to make significant strides towards greater US prominence, with the swiftly rising performer scoring an appearance on nightly NBC talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers this week.

Taking to the Late Night stage — which just last month hosted ubiquitous Aussie Sia — to perform her track Somebody Loves You, taken from last year's acclaimed EP The Movement, Who manages to shake off early nerves to deliver a pretty damn assured, capable vocal performance, ably backed by her three-piece soundtrack of upbeat, synth-wrapped electro-pop.

Leaving aside the obvious comparisons to fellow platinum-blonde pop personality P!nk (stylistically, if not musically), it's clear that Who is in a somewhat transitionary phase of her career, apparently not yet quite ready to boldly embrace a distinct sense of individuality the way that her hip-hop contemporary Iggy Azalea has done (proud Aussie accent notwithstanding), but nonetheless well on track to asserting herself as a promising, legitimate player in the global pop stakes.

Who released her second EP, Slow Dancing, back in April. It's available via iTunes now for less than seven bucks.
