Voyager & Make Them Suffer's Sean Harmanis Shine In 'Ultraviolet' Team Up

Have you ever done anything like this before? Voyager have dipped their toes in metalcore while Sean Harmanis, the vocalist from Make Them Suffer, has showcased what his vocals mixed with prog-metal would sound like.

The two bands have long been some of the finest acts to come out of Perth, but put together, something magical happens. On Ultraviolet, Voyager’s poppier verses are more commanding than ever and with Harmanis’ guest feature, the new collaboration is foreboding.

Ultraviolet is the last single to be released before Voyager’s new album, Fearless In Love, drops this Friday, 14 July, via Season Of Mist. You can pre-order the album here.

The band said about the unexpected team-up:

Ultraviolet is certainly one of the darkest songs on the album. As the protagonist struggles to cope with the pressures of the modern world and its insane demands, the song has a message that we hope will resonate with many people, and we collaborated with director Matt Pitcher to tell this story in a cinematic way.

Due to the dissonant nature of the track, we decided to enlist our good friend and fellow Australian Sean Harmanis, vocalist of metalcore band, Make Them Suffer, to perform a guest vocal spot to really portray the unsettling emotion we wanted to communicate in the track and he totally slays.

Pitcher added, “Through the story of a deteriorating relationship, Ultraviolet delves into the human experience within a modern era, exploring themes of depression, social media/phone addiction, identity and individualism. Much like the elusive yet dangerous nature of ultraviolet light, these often unseen forces hold immense power in shaping the course of our existence.”

While it’s the final single to be released before Fearless In Love arrives, Ultraviolet is the first new song from Voyager since their ninth-place finish at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

This year, a band represented the country for the first time in Australia's history with Eurovision. And this is a metal band that utilises soaring melodies, masterful riffs, keytar solos, powerhouse rhythms, and enough charisma that it should have won the 67th Song Contest.

In recent Make Them Suffer news, the metalcore outfit dropped their second single with their new keyboardist and co-vocalist, Alex Reade, in May. Ghost Of Me arrived with the announcement that the band signed with Greyscale Records in Australia and Sharptone Records in the rest of the world.
