Melbourne alternative rock outfit Kingswood have just shared their new single, Why Should I Let You Go, with a nostalgic, cowboy-influenced music video exclusively premiering today with The Music.
Why Should I Let You Go finds Kingswood on the road – in cars, vans, or riding horses; stopping in pubs, rehearsals, playing a live show and really showing the community spirit that comes with one of the biggest regional tours Australia has ever seen.
Dubbed “The latest single from your favourite critically acclaimed good times rock'n'roll and good times country band,” Why Should I Let You Go is anchored by Alexander Laska and Fergus Linacre’s duetting vocals. The track is purely acoustic for half its runtime before a rewarding crescendo that contrasts with its sibling single, last year’s Burning Holes.
This troubadour-inspired release adds layers of warmth and comfort pulling inspiration from their efforts traversing the wonderful worlds between Nashville and Europe.
"Why Should I Let You Go? was recorded on an impromptu and inspired sojourn in Paris, France where we wanted to capture the progression of the song as it developed across Nashville dive bars and the mountains of Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic,” Kingswood said in a statement.
They added, “The original was written in solitude, lamenting over a Nashville skyline but very quickly developed a new life on the road with a refreshed and hopeful energetic lift, echoing the reinvigorated musical take that band naturally fell into as we experienced audiences all over the world.

“The resounding nature of the chorus, pushing the idea that love has a journey for us all seemed to resonate across all environments and languages.” Check out the music video below.
Why Should I Let You Go follows the band’s latest album, Home, which has found Kingswood visiting over 100 spots in Australia on their mammoth Hometowns tour, guided by their trusty self-constructed bus, Peggy. The band’s Hometowns tour is wrapping up in July; find the remaining tour dates below.
