"A lot of businesses talk a lot about supporting live, original music in WA - it’s great to see one putting its money where its mouth is!”

Perth indie rock outfit Verge Collection are the latest act to take out the Tapped By Otherside touring grant.

The $5000 offering available to WA artists comes from Otherside Brewing Co, who earlier this year made a formal announcement of the funding after helping rising stars Koi Child on their SXSW quest through an International Development Grant ($2500).

Having dropped new single For The Story recently, the funds will assist Verge Collection on their upcoming August tour.

"Touring nationally when you're based in Perth is always costly and a lot of bands aren't lucky enough to be able to do it,” Verge Collection frontman Ben Arnold said.

“This Tapped grant will help us so much by underwriting a massive expense and help us get our music to an east coast audience. A lot of businesses talk a lot about supporting live, original music in WA - it’s great to see one putting its money where its mouth is!”

A panel of industry experts that included theMusic.com.au’s Daniel Cribb determined this year’s Australian Touring Grant recipient.

“We couldn’t be more encouraged by the response to this inaugural Tapped By Otherside,” Otherside Brewing Co.’s Julian Tompkin said.

“For us it’s always been about genuinely supporting local creative talent in a meaningful way, and we look forward to announcing the next round of Tapped grants in the very near future.”

Run by the same team that operates Southbound, Laneway WA and more, Otherside Brewing Co has plans to make the funding open to artists outside of WA next year, and potentially move into other creative platforms.
