Former US President and Republican nominee for this year’s election, Donald Trump, has said that he’s “not a fan” of Taylor Swift and warned that she’ll “pay a price” for endorsing the Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris.
Yesterday (11 September), the Lavender Haze singer took to Instagram to endorse Harris and encourage her 283 million followers to educate themselves on the nominees and vote.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,” she wrote on Instagram.
Calling to AI-generated images of the singer that appeared on Donald Trump’s website that stated that she was supporting his campaign, Swift added that those photos “conjured my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.”
Based on those photos and her feelings toward them, Swift concluded that she must be “very transparent” about her plans as a voter: “The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth,” she wrote.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and [running mate] Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift continued, adding that Harris “fights for the rights and causes” she believes need to be championed.

Swift also wrote that she views Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and was “heartened and impressed” by Tim Walz’s longstanding progressive stances on “LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
She concluded, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.”
At the end of her post, Swift signed off as “Childless Cat Lady,” referring to a controversial comment made by Trump’s pick for running mate, JD Vance. In response to Swift’s post, Trump remarked on the Fox & Friends show, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time.
“She couldn't possibly endorse [Joe] Biden... But she's a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she'll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
Elon Musk, who currently owns X (formerly known as Twitter), also chimed in following Swift’s post, sharing a creepy response: “Fine Taylor ... you win ... I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”
Musk, a tech billionaire, has 12 children with three women and is a vocal Trump supporter.
