Tropical Fuck Storm will embark on their Cellophane Honeymoon mini-festival in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in March and April 2024.
With a line-up starring the headliners, rock and roll band C.O.F.F.I.N., the chameleonic project of Cool Sounds and punks Mod Con, it’s the kind of mini-festival where you’d expect to pay $100 with the way prices are going up. But Tropical Fuck Storm have deliberately kept prices low for this upcoming tour.
Tickets for all dates will be $50 plus booking fees, an intentional choice made by Tropical Fuck Storm. The band told The Music, “The affordability of existence is overwhelming right now. So many of us are bogged down with the pressures of feeding and housing ourselves that there's little left in the bank for leisure and joy. Especially if you're a young person. Access to communal revelry feels imperative right now.
“We wanted to create an event with a ticket price that will hopefully be accessible whilst also making sure the awesome bands get paid. Many festivals here blow out their budget on bringing in artists from overseas, often overlooking the incredible talent we have here. Cellophane Honeymoon is all about celebrating the superabundance of talent in our local creative communities.”
The Cellophane Honeymoon tour begins in Brisbane (Meanjin) on Friday, 22 March, at The Triffid. The bands then travel to Sydney (Eora) on Saturday, 23 March, to headline the Metro Theatre, and on Friday, 12 April, hit the Northcote Theatre in Melbourne (Naarm).
The fun-sized Festivus will go on sale today at 10 am AEDT via the Tropical Fuck Storm website.

In August, Tropical Fuck Storm revealed that they had to cancel 18 months of tour plans as bassist Fiona Kitschin faces treatment for stage three breast cancer.
Upon announcing her diagnosis in January, Kitschin and the band believed that her treatment would last until October 2023, but as of August, she and her bandmates found out that her treatment would need to be extended until the end of April 2024.
The schedule change has led to financial strain for the band, with lead vocalist and guitarist Gareth Liddiard creating a GoFundMe fundraiser to help his longtime The Drones and Tropical Fuck Storm bandmate. The GoFundMe raised over $130,000.
