Tina Arena Plays New Single 'Cry Me A Miracle' On Q&A

Australian music icon Tina Arena joined ABC’s Q&A for a special performance of her new single, Cry Me A Miracle, from her recently released album, Love Saves.

Participating in the episode entitled Q and A: Arts meets Politics, which explored how artists use their platforms to incite change and ponder how federal and state governments can further support freelance gig workers.

Elsewhere on the episode, Q&A mined topics such as politics & racism, job security in the arts, funding women’s sports (following the Matilda’s life-affirming success in the FIFA Women’s World Cup), the impact of Air BnB on the rental market, price gouging, quotas on streaming services, and more. Unfortunately, Arena didn’t feature on the panel, but we can’t complain about watching her perform a new single.

Just Tina Arena and a piano player, she sang her way through the epic power ballad that is Cry Me A Miracle, proving that she can write new songs that stand alongside her expansive discography. Not missing a note or beat, she offers a pitch-perfect performance. You can watch it below.

Love Saves is Tina Arena’s first album in eight years and was released on Friday, 14 July. Love Saves represents a re-birth - a musical journey of Tina’s life during the pandemic, a renaissance of sorts. 

“I processed my feelings the only way I know how – through my art,” she said in a statement, revealing that she found solace in music as she turned inward during Covid-19 lockdowns.

“From rock bottom, I ran the gauntlet of human emotion. I faced my own demons, emerging on the other side transformed, triumphant, renewed and at peace. Remember, be brave, be vulnerable, and love saves!”

This October, fans can experience Love Saves in theatres across the country. Arena’s upcoming Australian tour begins at the Perth Concert Hall (8 October) before taking to the outdoor stage at HOTA on the Gold Coast (13 October), Melbourne Town Hall (20 October) and Adelaide Festival Centre (21 October), following the already announced Sydney show (7 October) at Night at The Barracks.
