Overwhelming Response After Melb Band Suffer ‘Devastating Blow’

Fans, friends and family have come to the aid of Aussie rockers Thornhill after their rehearsal space was broken into and thousands of dollars’ worth of gear was stolen.

Earlier this week, the band revealed nearly $100,000 worth of belongings had been stolen from the space, describing the incident as a “devastating blow”.

Sharing a photo of the space, which had been trashed, Thornhill said they had “barely anything left” and, to make matters worse, there was no video evidence of the incident, with a major fire at the site cutting the power.

They launched a GoFundMe, urging anyone who could donate to do so, stating, “We are trying to find a way to get back on our feet and keep this band alive.”

The band have smashed their goal of $50,000, with the crowdfunding campaign currently sitting at close to $60,000.

“We just want to say thankyou to everyone who has shared our post, donated or had us in their thoughts,” Thornhill shared.

“It’s been a horrible few days and to see this community continue to support us through everything means the world to us, and, we can not thank you enough for all that you have done.

“We have raised over $50,000 in the first day, which is an enormous effort, however, this should cover our touring rig, and, anything else we need to get straight back onto the road, with anything in excess going towards repairs, re-ordering merchandise, guitar and drum equipment that was stolen.

“We will keep the gofundme open until the end of the week, and again, thank anyone who has contributed in any way to help us get back on our feet. We have been through tough times and we will be back better than ever, thankyou.”

Thornhill had an absolutely massive 2022 off the back of their ARIA-nominated album Heroine, which Kill Your Stereo described as “a masterful and bold move”.

They smashed it on Like A Version last April, performing MUSE’s Supermassive Black Hole and their hit Casanova, and also dominated at Good Things Festival last month.
