It’s been a HUGE week for new indie, hip-hop and EDM releases – not only did we get fresh new tunes from some of Australia’s finest up-and-comers, like Sycco (who just dropped Swarm), SaxONLY (who blessed us with the Phi11a-assisted Selling My Soul) and BIG WETT (whose new cut SHE GOT THAT THING is destined to be a hit), but the international heavyweights were out in full force: Underscores came in hot with her wicked new banger My guy (Corporate shuffle), for example, while Disclosure delivered another instant classic in She’s Gone, Dance On, and Fred again.. got his fans going absolutely mental with places to be (a soulful joint effort with Anderson .Paak and CHIKA).
With all of that in mind, now seems like as good a time as any to remind you – or clue you in, if you didn’t know already – that we have our very own playlist dedicated to bringing you the best new music from the underground and beyond, fittingly named Purple Sneakers’ Best New Music. We update it every Friday with more than a dozen of the brand new tracks we simply can’t get enough of, giving you the ultimate soundtrack to power your weekend.
You can listen to Purple Sneakers’ Best New Music on Spotify (here) and Apple Music (here) – and make sure to hit us up on Instagram or Facebook to let us know what songs you’ve been loving!
Here are just a few of our personal favourites from this week’s update to the playlist...

WHAT SHE SAYS: “My guy (Corporate shuffle) is a song I originally wrote to be one of the opening tracks of my album Wallsocket. I ended up going with a song called Locals, but I still wanted people to hear this one.”
WHAT HER LABEL (LAUREN RECORDS) SAYS: “The track is an assertion and a confession; an author determined to take what she is owed versus a reality geared against her. Channeling an entire life history of influence, saoirse dream finds her niche – hyperpop to the rockers, rock to the hyperpoppers, and god knows what to the general populace.”
WHAT SHE SAYS: “Swarm was the first song I made when I went to LA for the first time on my own. I had recently broken up with my girlfriend of three years a few months before it and I hadn’t really processed any of it. Lyrically, Swarm is about my anxiety and how I let it get in the way of things that are important to me. Sonically, it has some fun production elements and is quite upbeat, and I'm attracted to the contrast because it highlights how silly those anxious feelings can be.”
