It’s been a HUGE week for new indie, hip-hop and EDM releases – not only did we get fresh new tunes from some of Australia’s finest up-and-comers, like Nick Ward (who just dropped Shooting Star), Becca Hatch (who blessed us with Think Of You) and 1300 (whose new cut Levitate is destined to be a hit), but the international heavyweights were out in full force: Feed Me came in hot with his wicked new banger Roadtrip Sleeper, for example, while Jamie xx delivered another instant classic in the Honey Dijon-assisted Baddy On The Floor, and Oliver Cronin got his fans going absolutely mental with Burning House.
With all of that in mind, now seems like as good a time as any to remind you – or clue you in, if you didn’t know already – that we have our very own playlist dedicated to bringing you the best new music from the underground and beyond, fittingly named Purple Sneakers’ Best New Music. We update it every Friday with more than a dozen of the brand new tracks we simply can’t get enough of, giving you the ultimate soundtrack to power your weekend.
You can listen to Purple Sneakers’ Best New Music on Spotify (here) and Apple Music (here) – and make sure to hit us up on Instagram or Facebook to let us know what songs you’ve been loving!
Here are just a few of our personal favourites from this week’s update to the playlist...

WHAT THEY SAY: “It's a song about confidence and self-worth, and how my mum has always been a stream of support and love. I've really struggled with confidence my whole life, and it's only through music and performing that I've found it. This song really feels like the emotion of being on top of the world to me.”
WHAT THEY SAY: “Think Of You is a song about the process of trying to forget a relationship that didn’t end well. Sometimes when relationships end, even if you want to move on, it can be hard to let go of the connection you once had. Our real feelings seem to find ways to reveal themselves to us through small reminders in our life; like songs, places and people. While this process is painful, these reminders eventually teach us how important it is to love and put ourselves first.”
