Get ready to Blow Up The Pokies and enjoy the summer vibes with The Whitlams, who have announced their 2025 Gone Coastal Australian tour.
Beginning the run at Miami Marketta, Gold Coast, on Wednesday, 1 January, The Whitlams will then soak up the sunshine along the East Coast in Evans Head, Elizabeth Beach, Erina, Dee Why, Torquay, Warrnambool, Meredith, and Shoal Bay, wrapping up the tour on Friday, 17 January.
The band said about the tour, “We're heading down the coast again this January - it's our new tradition. It was great last year seeing all you audiences in holiday mode. Tickets are on sale right now for Gone Coastal 2025.”
You can purchase tickets here.
The Gone Coastal tour comes after the band’s Love This City 25th anniversary tour, which began at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel last week.
Discussing all things Love This City before the national tour began with The Music’s Steve Bell, The Whitlams’ Tim Freedman revealed that if he had his time again, he would have ensured that Blow Up The Pokies went out as the first single.

At the time, he insisted on releasing Chunky Chunky Air Guitar as the first single—not a bad move, but one that would have baffled some fans after No Aphrodisiac.
Reflecting on what was happening with the band then, Freedman explained, “It came out in that funny time and became sort of a theme song to The Whitlams backlash.
“If I had my time again, I just would have put out Blow Up The Pokies first, and it would have gone bang, but that’s the benefit of hindsight; I would have put Chunky Chunky Air Guitar out third when it didn’t matter so much, and it was more just a breath of fresh air instead of a weird song that’s a little bit cheeky to put out straight after No Aphrodisiac.”
