The annual party is celebrating its 20th birthday this October
Brisbane's Fortitude Valley precinct will light up one more time this year when the annual Valley Fiesta rolls back into town, with a freshly announced line-up spearheaded by Craig Nicholls and his current cohorts in The Vines as well as resurgent dance-party duo Yacht Club DJs.
Launched at an event at Cloudland last night, the wider, ultra-impressive line-up — gathered to celebrate the yearly shindig's 20th anniversary this year — reads like a who's who of buzzworthy players, including guitar virtuoso Harts, luminescent DJ and producer KLP, rising rapper Jess Kent, risen rapper Joyride, and celebrated local outfits Hey Geronimo, Morning Harvey, Yuuca and These Guy.
Rounding out the 2016 bill are Sydney electro-hip hop duo Polygraphia, emergent local electronic artist Yvng Jalapeño and Melburnian up-and-comers nyck.
For comparison's sake, last year saw the acclaimed likes of Alpine, Art Vs Science, Asta, The Cairos, Gill Bates, The Jensens, Torfason and more pad out the melodic ranks soundtracking the event, but musical offerings weren't the only weapon in the Fiesta's arsenal then, nor are they now — it is billed as a celebration of music, food and art, after all.

As such, the event does offer a spread of cultural pursuits and curiosities to sate that section of your brain, including the two-day Valley Markets, held across Brunswick St and Chinatown malls; the latter space will also play host to the spread of wonderment for the weekend's Multicultural Showcase, featuring dance and other performances and workshops, for all ages, from around the world. There is also the return of the Laneway Series of events, canvassing all three tentpoles of the festival.
The 2016 Valley Fiesta will run from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October. Public stages are all-ages access, while events held inside licensed venues are strictly over-18s only.
