The cast was announced in the same place the band played to 200,000 people in 1967
With the much-anticipated world premiere of Georgy Girl — The Seekers Musical set to take place in Melbourne this December, the production's cast has been announced today at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, where The Seekers played to a crowd of 200,000 people back in 1967.
Led by Pippa Grandison playing the iconic lead singer of the band, Judith Durham, Phillip Lowe will take on duties as guitar- and banjo-wielding Keith Potger, Mike McKeish will play guitar- and mandolin-playing Bruce Woodley, and Glaston Toft will play double-bassist Athol Guy.
The musical will follow the astronomical rise of the Melbourne-based pop group as the first Australian band to achieve international success in both the UK and the US, and the first group to score #1 on the UK charts with their first three singles.
The musical will enjoy a limited season for 14 weeks in Melbourne from Tuesday, 22 December, before it heads to Sydney's State Theatre for a nine week season in April 2016.

Producer of the show Richard East said, "There is no other city in the world we could have opened this in … Melbourne is the home of The Seekers, and where it all began for Judith, Athol, Keith and Bruce in 1962 before they went on to capture the hearts and conquer the charts of the rest of the world."
