More The Saints More The Saints

Spectacular news for The Saints fans this afternoon, as the iconic Australian rock outfit have announced their plans for a (I'm) Stranded 7” reissue and the first-ever line of official merchandise from the original line-up.

It’s been 47 years since (I’m) Stranded hit the airwaves and 46 years since the influential single had its last physical release.

The 21st-century reissue, the 7” edition of (I’m) Stranded, will be released in a limited run of 2000 copies across three different coloured vinyl versions (blue, red and yellow) and three extra sleeves using the original 1977 UK, USA and Netherlands artwork.

Fans can also finally get their hands on the first-ever official merch line from the original line-up of The Saints.

This merchandise line contains the following items: two t-shirts and a hoodie featuring Ed Kuepper’s original hand-painted logo, the Fatal label 7” design and the rear sleeve graphic of Savage Pencil as featured on the 7” UK release (I’m) Stranded. You can check out the designs below.

The (I’m) Stranded collection will be shipping via Artist First from Wednesday, 2 August.

After the (I’m) Stranded album was released, The Saints really found their groove, following up the revered record with Eternally Yours (1977) and Prehistoric Sounds (1978).

In 2017, The Saints received a mural honouring their 1977 debut album, (I’m) Stranded. The 40th-anniversary mural exists in Brisbane.

Announced by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk at the official launch of BIGSOUND in Fortitude Valley, the mural — and an accompanying live music and recording event —received $61,930 in funding as part of the government's efforts to foster "a diverse and vibrant arts sector", the Premier said.

Palaszczuk noted, "Many of the 150-plus musical acts converging on Brisbane for BIGSOUND would acknowledge the huge influence of The Saints, for not only helping change the face of rock music worldwide in the 1970s but for showing that a Queensland band could have a big impact on the world stage, paving the way for many of the great Queensland musical acts to follow."

This Saints announcement follows Ed Kuepper’s long-out-of-print, seminal debut solo album Electrical Storm (1985) and Honey Steel's Gold (1990) finally receiving a vinyl reissue, thanks to a partnership with Remote Control Records. You can find out more about those releases here.
