Aussie indie rock favourites The Rubens have announced the release date of their highly anticipated fifth album, Soda, and with it, dropped a string of massive national tour dates.
Due for release on Friday, 20 September, fans have already heard a few tracks from the album—singles Black Balloon, Liquid Gold, Good Mood, and Pets And Drugs—but today, The Rubens have also unveiled another single: the title track.
In a statement, the band said of their latest single, “We really love this song sonically. We feel like it encapsulates the record, so it makes the most sense to name the album after it. It’s a breakup song where the fault is all on you, and you’re trying to come to terms with the fact you’re a f**k up, basically.
“It didn’t originally have the autotune on there, Konstantin (Kersting) wanted to do a crazy version with the vocals and once he sent it back, we were all like ‘Yeah, that’s it’. We never pictured autotune on there, but it makes it sound slightly disturbing. It brings out the emotion a bit more.”

This September and October, The Rubens will take Soda on the road with special guests, The Moving Stills and Bean Magazine.
