The indie supergroup have also previewed the album's title track
Canadian indie rock supergroup The New Pornographers have announced their return to active duty with the unveiling of their eagerly awaited new album, Brill Bruisers, to be released August 26 via independent stalwart Matador Records.
According to Pitchfork, long-time members Neko Case and Dan Bejar are both back for the album, as is band leader A.C. Newman and fellow Pornographers Blaine Thurier, John Collins, Kathryn Calder, Kurt Dahle, and Todd Fancey.
In a press release posted to the band's website, Newman said of the album: “This is a celebration record. After periods of difficulty, I am at a place where nothing in my life is dragging me down and the music reflects that.”
The 12-track album was produced by TNP bassist Collins in collaboration with Newman, and recorded primarily at Woodstock, NY's, Little Blue and Vancouver's JC/DC Studios. Said Newman: “We wanted Xanadu and we wanted Sigue Sigue Sputnik, which translated into sparklier and faster.”
