UK indie rock group The Last Dinner Party have cancelled their last run of tour dates of 2024, citing burnout.
The band were set to play shows in Germany, France, Poland, and the Czech Republic to cap off the year. The shows would have finished on 10 November.
However, after an extremely busy year of touring the globe and not much experience with that level of travel, performing, press circuits, and keeping on top of their respective health, The Last Dinner Party have been hit hard by burnout and need a break.
They made the announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday (26 October). Telling their fans that they’re “buzzing with joy and gratitude” following the end of their recent UK and European tour, the group revealed that they’ve been dealing with burnout that’s affecting them “emotionally, mentally, and physically.”
“As we came to the end of the UK/Ireland tour, we put some time aside to discuss how to approach the upcoming European tour. The burnout we're experiencing - emotionally, mentally, and physically - is something we're taking very seriously,” the band wrote.
“After much consideration we have come to the difficult decision to finish the tour with the last show in Prague. This means that we are sadly cancelling our November headline shows in Vienna, Zurich, Parma, Luxembourg and Tilburg.

“We wanted to give fans with tickets to these particular dates as much advance notice as possible to adjust their plans. We sincerely apologise to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us, and we are truly saddened to not be seeing you this time.”
The band added that refunds will be issued and that the last 12 months have been “incredible” but “undeniably exhausting.”
That exhaustion has led the band to “take responsibility” for how many shows they can commit to.
The statement continued, “Pushing ourselves past breaking point is not a fair or wise decision for anyone. We hope that you can understand that our reason for cancelling these shows is to protect our well-being and give the very best performances you all deserve.
“Moving forward and armed with the knowledge of our limits, we are working with our team to make sure we only book tours that we are capable of fulfilling at the highest potential. We never want to find ourselves in this situation again.
“Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts, for being the most supportive, generous, and wonderful fans - it means so much to us.”
The Last Dinner Party wrapped up their inaugural tour dates in Australia in July. The tour included massive shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane (all upgraded to larger venues than originally announced) and an appearance at Adelaide’s Spin Off festival.
In a review of their show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, The Music’s Jake Fitzpatrick declared that “the next great rock stars” have arrived in the form of The Last Dinner Party.
