Indie-folk royalty deserve the finest surrounds, and the finest surrounds they shall have
Celebrated indie-folk legends The Decemberists have announced a pair of sideshows to complement their impending appearance at 2016's Byron Bay Bluesfest, and they've done so in fitting style by revealing both headline performances will be held in esteemed concert halls in Melbourne and Sydney.
The Down By The Water scribes will first treat audiences in Melbourne at Hamer Hall (supported by fellow Bluesfest drawcard Shakey Graves) on Tuesday 29 March, heading up to the iconic Sydney Opera House for their second show on Wednesday 30 March.
The Decemberists have spent much of 2015 in support mode for most recent studio album What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World, the eagerly awaited — and thoroughly lauded — follow-up to 2011's acclaimed #1 album The King Is Dead. Between (and since), the band kept busy with several other pursuits, from being featured on The Hunger Games soundtrack and appearing on Parks & Recreation to good old-fashioned talk-show gigs for Conan and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
To try nab a ticket to one of The Decemberists' standalone performances — and we expect that they'll go pretty quickly — be vigilant and ready from 9am (AEDT) this Friday, 30 October; tickets go on sale then, and will be available via their respective venues (Melbourne/Sydney).
