A week after The Darkness announced their February 2024 Permission To Land 20th-anniversary Australian tour and teased, “Stay tuned for more tour news for the rest of Australia and New Zealand”, those dates have officially been added to the band’s upcoming trek down under.
Along with dates already announced for Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in early February, The Darkness will now stop in Adelaide, Fremantle, and Canberra, as well as making the trip to New Zealand in Auckland and Wellington, expanding the tour to span through late January and early February. You can find all the tour dates and venue information below.
Featuring the hit single, I Believe In A Thing Called Love, as well as Love Is Only A Feeling, Get Your Hands Off My Woman, and many more, Permission To Land debuted at #17 in Australia and subsequently reached Platinum status. I Believe In A Thing Called Love debuted at #40 on the Australian singles chart.
“When Permission To Land landed twenty short years ago, we were bathed in shock and awe. As if by magic, rock wasn’t dead! Fun wasn’t banned! And spandex was almost acceptable again… Well, guess what? Twenty years on, the same rules apply,” The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins commented about the tour and album in a press release.
He added, “So please squeeze yourselves into those inappropriate leggings, back-comb your mullet, splash on a big handful of attitude, and come celebrate with us! We promise everything, and we deliver every time. Bring on the next twenty!”
Melbourne duo Cry Club will join The Darkness on all Australian dates, while Volts will open for the band in New Zealand.
