The Chemical Brothers are less than two weeks away from releasing their hotly awaited tenth album, For That Beautiful Feeling – but Australian fans have even more to look forward to, with the legendary UK EDM duo sharing news of a tour for early next year.
Marking their first time Down Under since 2019 – when they toured in support of that year’s No Geography album – the short stint will kick off in Meanjin/Brisbane on Tuesday February 27. They’ll head to Eora/Sydney two days later (on Thursday February 29), then wrap up in Djilang/Geelong that weekend (on Saturday March 2). The lattermost show, slated to be held at the Mt Duneed Estate, will come as part of the 2024 program for A Day On The Green.
Anna Lunoe and James Holroyd will support The Chemical Brothers at all three shows, while The Presents will also appear in Sydney and Geelong.
Tickets for all the dates go on sale at 1pm AEST next Friday (September 8), following a few presales. For the Brisbane and Sydney shows, a Frontier Touring presale will kick off at 2pm next Wednesday (September 6); for Geelong, an AAMI members’ presale will start at 1pm next Monday (September 4), followed by one for A Day On The Green members at 2pm on Wednesday. Head here for more details on Brisbane and Sydney tickets, and here for Geelong.
Also coming next Friday is that aforementioned tenth album, For That Beautiful Feeling. It comes via EMI / Virgin Records, and has thus far been previewed with three singles: No Reason, Live Again (featuring Halo Maud) and Skipping Like A Stone (featuring Beck). You can pre-order the record for yourself here.
Reviewing the Sydney stop on The Chemical Brothers’ last Australian tour, Adam Wilding wrote for The Music: “The Chemical Brothers' set was part new and part retrospective, and featured many of the anthems that made the duo a household name... The crowd seemed into the new stuff, but the old stuff had most sections reliving their youth and screaming at the top of their lungs, smiling, laughing and really getting into it.”
