The Music has stumbled across a game that allows Metallica fans to guess which songs and albums have been streamed the most on Spotify.
The game, Spotify Game: Metallica Edition—Higher Or Lower, presents fans with two options at a time, with the simple question: “Guess which Metallica song has been played more on Spotify.” The statistics were last updated in March of this year.
According to the Leaderboard, which you can see on the game, the highest score is 430. The game asks which deep cuts are more popular than others, which song – Enter Sandman or Nothing Else Matters – is Metallica’s top song on Spotify, and features songs from the band’s latest album, 72 Seasons.
Based on Stattogories, the Metallica Edition of Spotify Game follows the release of the website’s metal edition.
Stattogories founder Gareth Evans said the intention behind the Metallica version of the game is to “celebrate their musical legacy and pay tribute to their iconic status” in metal music, per Brave Words.
Evans stated: “I wanted to create a game mode about Metallica to celebrate the most successful heavy metal band in the world and give their fans something to play during the Metallica M72 world tour.

“Metallica have an unparalleled legacy in the heavy metal genre, influencing countless bands and captivating generations of fans, and for this reason, I decided that they deserve their own game mode on Stattogories.”
Evans continued, “Creating this game mode allowed me to share my passion for Metallica and engage with fellow fans while also providing an opportunity to celebrate the band's extensive discography and test our knowledge. Metallica's music has the ability to evoke emotions, inspire, and unite people, and through this game mode, I hope to celebrate their musical legacy and pay tribute to their iconic status in the realm of rock and metal.”

Last month, Metallica started teasing a 2025 Australian tour.
On 19 September, the band posted an update about their new tour dates in the US and, at the very bottom of the announcement, shared a message for the band’s dedicated fans in Australia and New Zealand.
The announcement reads:
Finally, North America is not our only stop in 2025, as this year, we will return to Australia and New Zealand after far too long away!!! Stay tuned for the full announcement coming VERY soon.
It’s been 11 years since Metallica touched down on our shores, with the band last performing in Australia to headline Soundwave Festival in 2013. They’ve since released two studio albums: 2016’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct and last year’s 72 Seasons.
Metallica were booked to perform in Australia in 2019, but the tour was cancelled as singer James Hetfield needed to enter a treatment program to work on his recovery from addiction. The band were due to be joined by Slipknot.
